FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers!
Our worship service starts at 11:00 am and usually ends between 12:00 and 12:15. Feel free to arrive early or stick around after to meet some folks.
UBC has a small parking lot that is convenient for people who have trouble walking for whatever reason. If you are healthy and walking is not a problem, there is on street parking, or other parking lots you may use across the street or at the Community Music School.
Children are welcome to stay in the service and participate with the adults. We love it when families stay together, and when kids get to experience the worship of God's people. We aren't worried if they squirm or make noise -- children are a gift from God.
You will find that UBC is kind of traditional church. The service is led by the Pastor and another church leader and we follow a pattern called the "order of worship."
The order leads us through a series of simple prayers, spoken responses, and songs. We quote from the Bible a lot, and sometimes use words and phrases that may seem kind of strange at first, especially if you aren't used to those kinds of things. That's OK. Everyone needs to start someplace. Everything we do is designed to remind us how good Jesus is, and how much he loves us. Feel free to ask about anything you don't understand.
As for music, we sing many beautiful and lively hymns accompanied by a piano. We sing newer songs too, but we don't have a band with guitars and drums.
The pastor usually speaks for about 20-25 minutes on a section of the Bible. Then we pray for all kinds of things to ask God to help us, finishing by praying the Lord's Prayer that was taught by Jesus.
We end with a prayer of blessing, asking God to help us through the rest of the week.
We are so glad you asked. We believe that God hears our prayers and delights to answer them. This is especially true when we are struggling or suffering -- God especially loves hurting people.
You can contact the pastor at ubcpastor@comcast.net to ask for prayer. The pastor may call you by phone, or if it is convenient come to see you to pray in person.
The Pastor would be happy to speak with you, especially about questions of a spiritual nature. The best way to arrange this is to email ubcpastor@comcast.net. The pastor will respond and set up a time to talk either by phone or in person.
There are a number of ways that people can serve at UBC depending on skills, time, and needs. The best way to learn more is to contact the pastor at ubcpastor@comcast.net. You can talk and discuss what is needed and how your gifts can best be used.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU
